Back From Camp, Still Alive

Back From Camp, Still Alive

So I’m back from camp. :) It was some pretty awesome times, even considering that we went up north hoping for some summer sun and it rained every single day.
Now that I’ve gotten some cleaning out of the way I think I have some drawing time on my hands before work starts again on the 9th. Gotta actually do that this time instead of gaming the days away. <.<;
The above is a quick sketch of our camp site setup. We had it pretty nice with enough space for the five of us to sit in between the two tents and still be under the gazebo we had set up. Unfortunately that didn’t stop the wind, and our idea of parking the van on the windward side of the gazebo (closer to the trees) to give us some shelter was denied by a group moving in beside us, effectively blocking the only practical entry/exit point, but we managed okay. The biggest let-down of the trip in my view was not the weather but rather the group directly opposite us on the hill, who dubbed themselves the “Cool Party People.” They didn’t stop drinking at all for the entire duration of the trip, starting each day at the crack of dawn and going well into the night. While the noise is tolerable to an extent (they are allowed to party in their holiday, right?) the behaviour got steadily worse and sadly degenerated into behaviour as shocking as a guy buffooning naked around the site as a peacock with some poor group’s outdoor umbrella (now very much broken) for a tail. At some point that guy also bashed into our gazebo kinking one of the legs to the point that it wasn’t possible to even collapse it down properly. Big =\ to that, really spoiled it on the second to last day. We dubbed that group “The Frogs” after one night at 3am someone drunk started yelling that the frogs were really loud. Not being able to hear any frogs at the time ourselves we thought the name change was appropriately ironic. ^n^
But apart from that we had some good times playing Chinese chess in the tent, going on bushwalks, swimming in the rain, and visiting the dunes and Cape Rienga up north. :) It’s a pity we had to leave; but I guess life must go on. I do feel like I’ve gained some great memories and that alone is priceless. ^^
Shout out to Joel, Nick, Alison and Rhiannon; cheers for a great week. :D

    I’m glad you had a great time despite the weather. Good company and a sense of humour help. Hope those cool party people saw you all having fun without needing expensive substances to achieve it and are inspired to try to find out how for themselves.
