Bounty: “25 Expressions” 7, 8, 9 – Simon

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Here we are back with another drawing by me for Simon’s crazy bounty. xD Fortunately for those of you getting bored with seeing body-less heads I’ve got a better picture for y’all on Tuesday. :)
I’m a little sad at the lack of response to last Tuesday’s post though. :o No one dares critique the work of Saphy? I’m sure you’re all just too scared or something; but I promise he wont bite…hard. *nods* :)

For the second two pictures in this set I went with trying to draw my old character Hiro some more. It’s still a real challenge to get his hair flick looking decent. >.<; Oh well, all in the name of practice right? :)

Bounty: “25 Expressions” 4, 5, 6 – Simon

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Next instalment of facial goodness. Or badness, depending on how you look at it.
Uni work is finally starting to look like its going to get hard again. Not good; it’s only the start of the second [EDIT: third] week. xD Here’s hoping its not too bad.

Bounty: “25 Expressions” 1, 2, 3 – Simon

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Happy, amused, and over-joyed. This is the first part in a series of pictures where I’m tasked to draw 25 different expressions. @.@; Feel free to make suggestions; I already have scared, angry and skeptical.

My enrolment issues have pretty much wound down for now (finally) leaving me with a chance to miss out on being able to get into software engineering, and having to do a general education paper this summer. Such is life I guess. I’m reasonably confident I’ll get in to software since it doesn’t normally get full, and because I could argue my case a bit more if they tried to deny me. xD Oh well, just gotta do well this semester either way right?

Bounty: “Ink Only” Lol Xom -Simon

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

This is the other ink-only picture (that’s right, no planning lines at all), this time with photoshop enhancements to make it a bit more interesting to look at. :)
This picture is inspired by the roguelike game called Powder in which the traditional classes system is replaced by a deity system, with each deity representing a different class. To please your chosen divine figure you act out the role of their class. Naturally displeasing some of the gods will be inevitable (for example if you follow the fighter god the mage god isn’t likely to be your friend), and so a player must always be ready to overcome divine punishments.
There is one particularly hard to understand ‘cultist’ god called ><0|V| (or ‘Xom’) who seems to pretty much act randomly. One moment he yearns for metal crashing on metal; the next he wants to see some parlour tricks. Trying to keep up with what exactly is wanted of you becomes a whole new game of itself.

Bounty: “Ink Only” Sword-hand and Randoms -Simon; Scanner Woes; Domain Win

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

—Click for a slightly larger image—

Alas! My scanner has decided that it wants to stop working. That is, plugging it in and pushing buttons (eg. the power button) does nothing at all! I have pictures. I have two actually (haha prepared right? :D ) but no scanner to get them online! D: Disastrous.
Fortunately Saphy has donated the use of his scanner to keep things running until I can sort something out on this end. :)

This is a picture I drew to fulfil another bounty placed by Simon to draw a picture using only ink; no erasable pencil first. A bit of a tough challenge I thought, though easier than the drawing real objects one. First I drew the sword-hand, then I decided to try out drawing some other random stuff at the bottom with some pretty interesting results so I left them in. I also drew another picture for this bounty which will be coming on Tuesday.

Bounty: “Coffee Flask-cup” -Simon

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

A bounty put up by Simon to draw a real object (not a cartoon). The nearest object right in front of me was my erstwhile drinking vessel.
I find drawing like this to be very difficult, especially considering I was still using a mech pencil. I suppose it’s something I should practice more; it definitely helps with dimensions and proportions. Should really find my old thick pencils if this becomes a habit though.
The scan doesn’t look very good because the picture is very light. I had to darken it quite a bit to make it visible to an acceptable degree. xD

Bounty total: $12
